Sandra Bullock Thompson Obituary

On Sunday, April 6, 2025 God's heavenly angels welcomed the spirit of Sandra Laverne Bullock Thompson into her heavenly home. She was born on October 10, 1956, in Newport News, Virginia to the late Wilbert and Rachel Bullock.

Sandra was educated in Newport News City Public Schools. She later received an early child development endorsement, and attended nursing school. She met the love of her life, Army veteran Minister Robert L. Thompson Jr., and on October 30, 1980, they were married. Together they travelled all over the world. Sandra's work experience included a variety of civil positions on military installations, Newport News Public Schools, U-Do-it Laundry in Hayes, Virginia, and she found her career at Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail. She retired on February 29, 2020, and returned June 16, 2020, as a part-time employee.

In her spare time she loved planning, decorating, and hosting family gatherings, serving her famous banana pudding. She liked gardening, watching Lifetime TV, fellowshipping with her friends and family, especially her daughter, Tesha. She really enjoyed caring for her "little miss muffin", Syre. She loved her work family so much that she decided to come out of retirement and return to work at the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail. Sandra and Robert were deeply rooted in their faith. She enjoyed serving in the Missionary Ministry at First Baptist Church Morrison where her husband serves as a minister. Sandra's contagious smile and big dimples brightened everyone's day.

She was predeceased by her parents Wilbert and Rachel Bullock and her siblings Timothy, Sharon, and Carlos Bullock.

Sandra leaves to cherish her precious memories her loving husband of 44 years, Minister  Robert L. Thompson, Jr.,; daughter LaTesha Reed; son Anthony (Whitnee) Thompson; five grandchildren Teasha Saffold, TreQuan, Tavian, and Trinity Reed, Syre "little miss muffin" Thompson; two great-grandchildren Zahara Saffold and Zahir Reed; six brothers Greg, Larry, Reginald, Wilbert, Vincent, and Randall (Angela) Bullock; two sisters Charlene Ruth (Mac), and Millicent Parker (Gary); two sisters-in-law, Diane Doswell and Gloria Thompson; Goddaughter Daniella Causer and her children Alivia, Ariel, and Amera Goodson, and Raekwon Bailey; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, and her dog Bentley.

The family would like to give special thanks to everyone for the cards, prayers, thoughts, and acts of kindness extended to our family during this difficult time.
