On July 5, 2015, God in his infinite mercy saw fit to call Richard Sewell Jr. into eternal life.

Richard Jr. as he was called, was born on August 27, 1947 to the late Richard Sewell Sr. and Ludella Shepard Sewell in Tensaw Alabama.

Richard Jr. was educated in the Mobile Alabama school system, after which he moved to Townsend, Virginia and worked for numerous manufacturing and farming companies in the local area.

Richard Jr. joined the New Mission United Methodist Church and was baptized on August 26,2007.

Richard was a devoted and loving father, brother, uncle and a friend to many. Wise and filled with insight he imparted life lessons to all. His main focus was always on stepping out on faith- "nothing beats a fail but a try."

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Sewell Sr. and Ludella Shepard Sewell; his loving stepmother, Mrs. Sabor Toliver; a brother, Charlie Abrams of Mobile Alabama, a sister: sister, Katherine Stanley of Houston, TX and three stepsister; Frances Jones of Kiptopeke, VA, Nyoka Ames of Savageville, VA. and Janie Smith of Fairview VA.

Richard leaves to rejoice in his memory three sons, Alvin Butler, Michael Richardson, and Davin Richardson. Three daughter, Sabrina Butler, Cynthia Butler, and Brittney Bennett: two brothers, Ezekiel Sewell of Nassawadox, VA and Tom Abrams of Mobile, AL.; six step brothers, Milton Jones of Birdnest, VA, Clarence Jones of Trenton NJ, Sampson Jones of Cape Charles, VA, Darnell Jones of Cape Charles, VA, Tony Jones of Hampton VA, and Marvin Jones of Kiptopeke, VA; three sisters, Sarah Martinez of Houston, TX, Betty Starling of Mobile, AL, and Mary Banks of Mobile AL; two step sisters, Patricia Ames and Selene Savage of Cheriton, VA. A host of nephews and nieces and a devoted niece Mary "Kathy" Sewell Collins and her husband Ted; a multitude of other loving relatives and friends -and-one lifelong friend Emma Custis.
