Rev. Jesse Johnson Jr., son of the late Jesse Presha and Fannie Watts, was born February 24, 1958, in Nassawadox, Virginia. He departed this life Saturday, March 28, 2015, at Calvary Hospice Hospital in Bronx, New York.

He received his education in the public schools of Northampton County, Virginia, He was a CNA at Northampton-Accomack Memorial Hospital, Heritage Hall, and Arcadia Nursing home for over 20 years, and then became a Behavioral Health Associate at Bellevue Hospital in New York for the past seven years.

Jesse accepted Christ at an early stage in life. He became Reverend at St. Mary's Baptist Church where he tendered for 6 years. During his time as Pastor he implemented children's time and praise and worship service. He loved the Lord and he showed it every time he got up in the pulpit and gave his sermon. One of his most memorable sermons was "Going to Job's House."

Jesse was a man who loved his family and was a proud grandfather. He never missed a birthday, a holiday, and tried to make it to at least one of their games. He was proud of all of his grandkids. He also enjoyed fishing with his family and enjoyed watching the Chicago Bears on the big screen. Jesse was loved by so many. He was known as "Spunky" to his family and close friends. He always had a kind word and a huge smile every time you saw him.

He left his mark on this Earth and leaves to cherish his memory a multitude of family, friends, and loved ones; his wife Michele Johnson-Jamesville, VA, his three kids, Jesse (Latoya) Johnson-Virginia Beach, VA; Demetrius (Erica) Johnson-Accomack, VA, Jessica (Ali) Ganyuma-Goochland, VA. Eight grandkids, Jada, Jamon, Jamilah, Darion, Devon, Baraka, Jalia, and Ali, Jr. Two step grandkids-LaMari and Markeith. Two brothers-Melvin (Pam) Presha-New Castle, DE; Anthony Johnson-Salisbury, MD; two sisters: Faith Johnson- Nassawadox, VA; Jacqueline Borden- Hare Valley, VA; one step-sister, Blanche (Robert) James- Atlanta, GA. One aunt, Golie Collins-Exmore, VA; and one uncle, Billie Johnson- Nassawadox, VA. Four brothers-in-law and six sisters-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
