Pastor Gene E. Savage Obituary

CELEBRATING PASTOR GENE

Gene Edward Savage was a passionate and loving person who departed this life on May 26, 2020 at Sentara Lee Hospital in Virginia Beach, VA. He was born on April 3, 1959 to the late Gene A. Savage and Alease L. Savage in Nassawadox, VA. He received his early education in Washington, DC and graduated from Frank W. Ballou High School in 1978. He attended the Bell Trade School where he majored in Engineering. He was lastly employed at the Accomack County Public Schools before assuming his pastorate, full-time.

Gene accepted the Lord Jesus on Dec 31, 1977. As a teenager he received the gift of the Holy Ghost at Praise Temple Church of Christ under the leadership of Pastor James Quarles. During his tenure at Praise Temple, Gene was a faithful member who was eventually consecrated a deacon. His devotion to Christ made him a witness to his family, whom he led to Christ. At age 22 he relocated to Exmore, VA where he met and married his wife, Doretha Johnson, on August 26, 1989.

For over 23 years, he was a member of Mount Moriah Fellowship Center which later became the Miracle Temple Church of Faith II. He formerly was an Amour Bearer and Youth Coordinator for the Miracle Temple Ministries and served as an instructor of the Miracle Temple Bible Institute and Assistant Vice Moderator of the Executive Council under the leadership of Presiding-Prelate Apostle Lenwood Wright. In 2009, Gene was installed as the pastor of Miracle Temple Church of Faith II. Under his leadership several souls have been drawn to Christ and saved. Under his pastoral leadership, he had the church renovated and church mortgage paid off.

Gene loved his family dearly. He loved to cook and served all his meals in excellence. He had a gift of giving and administration. Gene leaves to cherish his memory his wife Elect Lady Doretha; children Ethiopia, DeCarlo; eight grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; mother Alease L.; brother Antonio C. (Pamela); nephew Antonio C. II; niece Bry’aun (David); a special cousin and friend; Deacon Charles Sample, a host of relatives, church family and friends.
