Olivia Theresa Baines Obituary
Olivia “Bunchie” Theresa Baines, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ early morning on September 6, 2025, at Birchwood Park Rehab and Nursing in Virginia Beach, VA. Olivia was born on December 30, 1946, to the late Charles Edward Baines, Sr. and Sarah Theresa Bradford Baines of Painter, VA. She was the first born of five brothers and four sisters.
Olivia’s family and friends called her “Bunchie”. She loved talking and making you laugh. She was generous, caring, and deeply devoted to her family. Bunchie was a person who told you what you needed to hear whether you asked for her advice or not.
Olivia received her education in the Accomac County Public Schools. Early in life she worked in different occupations until she found her niche and established her own business called Bunchie’s 1-2-3 Daycare. She was very fond of her babies and found happiness in caring for them. Olivia spent her free time with her mother and family. Her mother’s house was a time to laugh, tell jokes, and play music especially during Christmas.
On her own time, she enjoyed shopping, watching TV, listening to her favorite gospel station, and cooking especially baking her famous sweet potato pies.
Olivia accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of New Allen Memorial A.M.E. Church. She was a faithful servant of the New Allen Usher Board and Class Leader for many years until her health began to fail. Olivia’s faith was unwavering, and she knew that without Christ strength she could do nothing. Her favorite scripture was “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” Philippians 4:13.
She is survived by her only daughter, Deborah D. Holloway (Christopher) and only granddaughter Chrislynne L. Holloway of Virgina Beach, VA; brother, Albert Baines (Mary), of Painter VA; sister, Doris Reid of Painter, VA; sister, Carvies Ayers (David) of Exmore, VA; brother, Morris Baines of Painter, VA; Leonard Baines of Painter, VA; sister, Sandra Bull (Almer) of Hampton, VA and Jerome Baines of Painter, VA; and brother-in-law, Oliver Boggs of Melfa, VA and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Bradford and one aunt, Laura Rowley, sister, Blossie M. Boggs, brother, Charles “Pow Wee” Edward Baines, Jr., three nephews, Matthew Johnson, Charles Linwood Baines, III, and Jutono (Joe) Hardy.
