Shirley Virginia Chandler Kellam was born February 12th, 1936 in Wardtown, Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Horace Chandler Sr and Malvania Lee James Chandler. Shirley departed this life on Saturday, March 12th, 2022, at Riverside Memorial Hospital.
Shirley obtained her education in the Northampton County Public school system. She was employed as an agricultural field worker prior to moving to New York, where she did domestic work and provided care for her clients. Shirley lived in New York for many years, until she retired in 1999 and returned home to take care of her mother.
Shirley was a very outspoken, straight to the point, whatever came out of her mouth type of person. She loved her daytime soap operas, game shows and crime shows. On a good day, Shirley could be caught dancing to old music hits with those that she loved.
Shirley was preceded in death by her mother and father, Horace and Malvania Chandler, two sons, Arnette Chandler and Coley Kellam Jr. and great grandson. Shirley leaves to cherish her precious memories: daughter Wanda Kellam and son Larry Kellam (Patricia), 13 grandchildren, Natasha, Arnett, Wykeiria, Wysaan, Wynasia, Wylesia, Wyzeer, Wykea, Corey, Anette, Chelsa, Desi, De’Asia, and Donta, 12 great children, extended family members, George and Leslie Walker, special friend and companion Donnie Bloxom (AKA Johnnie), and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
