Ms. Ella Mae Marrow Obituary

CELEBRATING ELLA MAE

Ella Mae Marrow was born on July 18, 1942 to Abraham Marrow Jr. and Clara Payton in Cheriton and raised by her grandparents Richard and Hazel Morris on Cheriton Crossroads. Ella Mae, known to many as Boojack, attended Northampton County Public Schools. After schooling, Ella worked for KMC Foods, Cheriton VA for many years. After leaving KMC, she worked for Perdue and C & D Seafoods. She also worked at Northampton Growers for years as a seasonal employee until her legs began to bother her.
At a young age, Ella joined African Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Charles F. Mapp where she remained a faithful member until her death. She served on the Deaconess Board for many years. Ella was a devoted mother to her children, loving mother to her grandchildren/great-grandchildren/great-great-grand children and a faithful friend to all she came in contact with. While raising her own children, she became a neighborhood mother to the motherless as well as a father to the fatherless. To know her was to sure enough love her. In her spare time, she loved to spend time with her family, especially her great-grandchildren whom she helped raise. She loved to laugh and enjoyed life everyday as if it was her last day.
She was proceeded in death by grandparents, Richard and Hazel Morris; father, Abraham Marrow; mother, Clara Payton; aunt, Ella Mae Norman; two brothers, Willie Lee Jr. Marrow and Wilson Marrow; a sister, Mindia Jones; a daughter, Annette Adson; a son, Kenneth Marrow; a son-in-law, Tony Adson Sr.; and a great-grandson, Lorenzo Stith Jr.
Ella Mae leaves to cherish many fond memories: her devoted children, Anthony Holley of North Chesterfield, VA; Malinda Marrow of North Chesterfield ,VA; Deborah Strand (Nathaniel) of Richmond, VA; and Mechele Marrow of Cheriton, VA; her siblings, Hazel Savage of Richmond, VA; Ernestine Houston of Maulin, SC and William Payton of Cheriton; 16 grandchildren, Fontain, Antwan D, Lorenzo, Anthony, Antwan, Danny Jr., Shantell, Tramaine, Ta'Quanta, Danyale, Marquise, Charnelle, Tony, Angel, Deidra, Kevin, Devin and Kendell; 26 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, 8 nieces and 1 nephew; 2 special nieces that helped care for her, Cheryl Savage and Latoya Savage; childhood friend, Hattie Andrews and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and relatives.
