Nekisha Trypena Edwards was born in the Northampton-Accomac Memorial
Hospital on January 29, 1978 to Shirley Spady-Tazewell and the late Charles
Goffigon. She passed away from this earthly life on March 25, 2023.
Kisha, as she was affectionately called, was educated in the Northampton
County Public School system, and later earned her General Education
Diploma. She attended the Technical College in Lynchburg, Virginia. After
receiving her education, Nekisha worked as a tax consultant and periodically
braided hair.
Nekisha attended African Baptist Church as a child. As a young adult she joined
Jesus Center Apostolic Holiness Church of Madison Heights, VA, where she
was saved. She was adopted in love by Bishop Morris and his wife, Sister
Molly, and family.
Nekisha loved her family with an unconditional love, especially her children.
She also had a love for cooking, crabbing, fishing, and helping those who were
in need. Nekisha passed her love for fishing and crabbing down to many of her
children and she was always recruiting others to share in her joy of fishing.
Nekisha never met a stranger and she always willingly helped anyone, even if
it meant she had to give her last. Because of her outgoing personality, Nekisha,
became a sister to many people. In elementary school Nekisha met two friends,
“SheShe” and Keisha, and the three of them became the “Three Musketeers.”
They remained friends and family. Kisha, reached out to her extended family
regardless of where she was located.
Nekisha was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Essie Marie
Owens; grandfather, Milton Robert Bibbins; maternal grandfather, Amom
Watson; two children, DeSean Goffigon and Yacia Darnasia Scott.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories: her husband, Albert Edwards;
mother, Shirley Spady-Tazewell; eight (8) children, Rhyneekqua Spady,
Demetrius Spady, ShiKalia Lyons, Amariyona Lyons, Mercie Lyons, Antoine

Monique, and Christopher Edwards; maternal grandmother, Mary Spady; two
(2) sisters-in-law, Charlene and Ruth Edwards; one (1) brother-in-law, Kendrick
