Mrs. Daphne Custis

Daphne Rena Ruffin Custis was born in Fairview, Virginia on
July 10, 1966 to the late Ernest and Irene Ruffin. She
transitioned from this life on Sunday, June 4, 2023.

Daphne was a member of Mt. Sinai Gospel Tabernacle in
Cape Charles, VA under Bishop Estella Smith. She sang on
the Busy Bee Choir. Donald, Daphne and their children joined
Living Word Church of Deliverance in 1999 under Apostle
Irvin O. Jackson. The Family was very active in the church.
Daphne was educated in the Northampton County Public School System. After receiving her diploma, she
graduated from the Eastern Shore Community College
with her C.N.A. credentials.

On April 12, 1985, Daphne married the love of her life and
her best friend, Donald (Grover) Custis. Daphne loved her
husband and her children affectionately known as the
D Custis Crew: De’Monne, Domonique, Dekeisha,
Donald and Darnell. Daphne was a devoted wife and
mother. Even though she adored her children, her
grandchildren were the joys of her life.

Daphne leaves to cherish her memory: her children;
De'Monne Custis, Domonique Custis, Dekeisha
Washington (Quincy), Donald Custis(Patricia) Darnell Custis; her siblings:
Bishop Ornia Dixon (Starlene), Nita Reid, Tyrone Ruffin (Wendy), Aves Justis
(Adrian, I), and Markee Davis; her grandchildren: Zyier, Zion, Zhamon,
ZaNai, Zoie, Ryleigh, Brendan, Steven, Sasha, Shawn, Ja'kaiya, Rayne,
Quinsiya, Seria, Kashis, Joaquin, Esperanza and A’Noiree and her “children at
heart”: Shirnett, Sierra, Nathaniel, Tyleisha and a host of nieces, nephews,
cousins, and friends.
