Lonnie Wiggins was born on September 6, 1949, to Marcus and Lougene Wiggins in Northampton County, Va. He departed this life peacefully, on June 7, 2023, at the age of 73. Lonnie attended the public schools of Northampton County, Va. Later he moved to Philadelphia, Pa. where he lived for over 40 years, after which he returned to his home town on the Eastern Shore, VA.
Lonnie lived a life marked by his passions, challenges, and personal experiences that shaped him in unique ways. He was known for his unwavering passion for gambling, a passion that consumed much of his time and energy. He found excitement and thrill in games of chance, whether it was playing cards, rolling the dices or playing the numbers. Lonnie approached gambling with enthusiasm and had a deep knowledge of the games he played.
Lonnie did not pursue a traditional job throughout his life. Instead, he followed his own path, embracing a non-conventional lifestyle. Lonnie believed in living life on his terms, finding freedom in his choices. While his decision not to pursue regular employment may have raised eyebrows, it was a reflection of his independent spirit and desire to live life HIS way. Even though Lonnie was a private person, he always had a pleasant smile on his face, and he was a giving person.
Predeceased in death were his parents Marcus & Lougene Wiggins, 9 brothers and sisters: Isaac Wiggins, Alice Ames, Marcus (June) Wiggins, Kate Reid, Katherine (baby-rein) Wiggins, James (Jim) Wiggins, Maggie Moses, John Henry Wiggins, and Jessie Wiggins and one niece Vivian Brown; 3 brothers-in-law Cecil Ames, Seven Reid, and John Moses; 2 sister-in-laws Francis Wiggins, & Hazel Wiggins,
Lonnie is survived by his family, including 2 children, 3 sisters-n-law Erma Wiggins, Theodora Wiggins and Henriette Wiggins,. nieces & nephews: Alvin Ames, Dorothy Robinson, Deborah Selby, Maxine, Cecil, & Regina Ames, Theresa Morgan, Isaac, Alvin , Bernice, Patricia Wiggins & Charlene Chandler, Andrew & Annette, Mark, Travis, Michael , Crystal, Jessica, Giama, Kiloma, & Oyinma Wiggins, Fred Boodie; host of great nieces, nephew, cousin, and friends.
As we bid farewell to Uncle Lonnie and reflect on his life, it is important to remember that our experiences do not define our worth as individuals.
