Benotaire (Ben) Joseph, 66, of Cape Charles, VA transitioned on Tuesday March 15, 2022 at 2:10pm surrounded by the love of his children and fiancé.
Born in Jacmel, Haiti, Ben was always an outspoken person. Wanting a better life for himself, in 1984 he moved to America. Moving around in Miami and Ft. Pierce driving taxi, in 1985 he married Yolene Ferdinand until becoming a widower.
Wanting to take advantage of the American dream, Ben moved to the Eastern Shore, VA settling in Cape Charles. He started employment at Perdue Farms while taking classes at Eastern Shore Community College learning English as a second language and auto mechanics. He worked at Perdue Farms until 1999. In that time, he became well known for transporting employees to and from work. Deciding to make a career change, he started at Bayshore Concrete until 2012. He worked at Pickett's Harbor and Bernie's Conch house until going back to Perdue Farms where he retired in 2020.
Ben loved to go fishing, dance and have a good time. Much of his spare time was spent working on cars, cooking meals for his family and friends, watching soccer and football, and sitting in the yard under the tree he planted with his own two hands.
Benotaire was a wonderful father, provider, and friend. Throughout the years, he became part of many people's family and was well known and loved. He worked and dedicated his life to taking care of his children, providing a strong foundation for them.
Benotaire was preceded in death by both mother and father, 6 siblings, his best friend Nathaniel Fitchett, and his son Nicholas Joseph. He leaves behind to cherish his memorable life: 2 sisters and 1 brother in Haiti; his children, Ybens Joseph, Ruth Joseph, Rubens Joseph, Janay Joseph, Aizmani Joseph and Heavenlei Joseph; fiancé, Leticia Barnes; 5 grandchildren in Haiti and 1 in America, and a host of relatives, and friends.
