Milton “Moosie” Custis Obituary
Milton "Moosie" Custis was born September 30, 1979, in Nassawadox, Virginia, and entered eternal rest on September 1, 2025, at the age of 45. He was born to Milton and Caroleen Custis. At the age of 12, he was baptized at Union Baptist Church in Eastville, Virginia.
Moosie grew up in Treherneville, Virginia, where he attended Northampton County Public Schools. He was known as a superstar football player at Northampton High School. As a fullback, Moosie helped lead the team to win the district title in 1996. His son John followed in his footsteps, becoming a defensive lineman at Emory and Henry University.
Moosie was a MacGyver to many; he woke up in go mode, ready to solve any issue that came about. He was known to light up any room he entered with his loud voice and bright smile. He was a provider for his family, known as Milt to his wife and Da to his children. He ensured that his wife and children had everything they needed from the very beginning. Moosie was always willing to help others in need. He grew vegetables and often gave them to family, friends, and neighbors for free. He never met a stranger and could hold a conversation with anyone. He made friends everywhere he went.
Moosie was a lover of music; you could hear him listening to artists from Maroon 5 to EST Gee. He also loved to sing and rap to the point where he recorded a few of his own singles. He was known as a soulful crooner, and you could catch him singing anywhere. His love for music encouraged his daughter, Auzhanik, to learn to play the piano and guitar. She would often play the instruments while he sang, creating the perfect father-daughter duo.
Moosie's memory will be cherished by his loving wife of 19 years, Susan Foster Custis. They met on one of Moosie's adventures when he lived in Alabama for a short period of time. From this union, they were blessed with two exceptional children, Auzhanik and John Custis. Moosie was loved by his father, Milton "Chinch" Custis, his mother, Caroleen Custis, three brothers — Curtis Webb, Johnny Webb (Mary), and Shawn Thomas — and four sisters: Penny Evans (Nicky), Katrina Almond, Natasha Custis, and Azura Collins (Andrae). A special sister-in-law, Tangnika Foster, and a special brother-in-law, Ezekiel Foster; three aunts, Shirley Harmon, Gladys Brisco, and Serena Gray (Marcus); a great aunt, Eula Mae Weeks, and a great-uncle, Milton Dunton. A special cousin, Deon "Mook" Dunton, and best friend Joshua Bowen. Moosie also leaves to cherish his memories a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, co-workers, and friends who will miss his larger-than-life attitude.
Moosie was a jack of all trades but found his passion in the gas industry, working for MasTec Utilities. He enjoyed working in the Safety Department. His Commercial Driver's License afforded him the position of a Vacuum Truck operator.
