Milow T. Lemmon Obituary
Reflections of Life
On April 11, 1974 at Barnet Hospital in Paterson N.J. a Phenomenal Poet and Artist was born to Kathy Gibbs Henriques and Gary R. Lemmon. Milow, also known as Palube Khalfani. It was just one day after Milow came into this world that he was diagnosed with Sickle Cell Anemia- which was at that time unknown to many including his parents. His mom was devastated when she was told that she was being discharged the next day without her new born son. Although the Late Dr. Alan Dokter had explained this life time condition to Kathy, it was not enough. She went to the library seeking more information by doing her own research.
Throughout the years, Milow fought with sickle cell which caused him so much pain; God was preparing Kathy for the pain that she and Milow would endure throughout their lives. Milow was accepted and attended Rosa Parks School of Performing Arts prior to relocating to the Eastern Shore of Virginia where he was baptized at Antioch Baptist Church. He attended and graduated from North Hampton High School in Eastville Virginia. Other than the love of art and poetry, Milow discovered another interest. Although his fingers were long and skinny he realized he could give great massages, so he enrolled in Bergan Community College in Paramus, N.J. taking a course to become a Massage Therapist. Painful Crisis snatched him from his studies as it had done so many times before. As the true warrior Milow was, he would continuously fight back and win. Unfortunately, at 1:52 A.M on Friday March 18, 2016 at Chippenham Hospital in Richmond VA. he lost his battle with sickle cell. He was too tired to fight anymore. God heard this warrior’s cry for mercy and showed him the stairway to heaven. Milow flew up those stairs, never looking back. I know he is screaming down “I am Free, I am Free. He now has life with the best doctor ever!
Milow leaves to cherish his fond and unforgettable memories, his mother Kathy Henriques of Elizabeth City N.C., his father Gary R. Lemmon of Miami Florida, six brothers, Jonathan L. Gibbs of Arlington V.A., Trevor C. Henriques Jr. of Duluth G.A., Troy Brown of Paterson N.J., Keon Lemmon of T.X., Kewan Lemmon of K.Y. and Jason Lemmon of Charlotte S.C., God mother Mrs. Claris Grant of Paterson N.J., two favorite Aunts that he truly adored Mrs. Lise Caldwell Hall of Colonial Heights V.A., and Ms. Earline Giddens of Trehernville V.A., Sylvia Davis of Paterson N.J., Denise Lawrence of Paterson N.J., Joycelynn L.
