Mildred Sturgis Brickhouse was born on October 14, 1941 in Northampton County Virginia to James Holmes and Mildred Holmes. She was raised in Marionville, Va and attended
Northampton County Public School System. She was baptized at Bethel Baptist Church, Franktown, Va. On Friday, God saw her pain and knew it was too much for her to bear.
Over the years, Mildred worked as a Domestic Worker for many families. They considered her a part of their own family. In 2001, she decided to officially retire to her new home with her husband Amp. She loved to cook, clean, garden, dance and decorate. Her smile would light up a room. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
Mildred leave to cherish her memories her three children, Tony Sturgis, Pocomoke, MD, Naomi Moody, Eastville, VA and Jeanette Sturgis, Nassawadox, VA; two grandchildren, Sherrita Brittingham (Isaac), (VA) and Roland Sturgis, III, (VA); five great grandchildren, Khia and Keyson Brittingham, (VA), Dayeeon Sturgis (VA), Rylo Sturgis (DEL) and Keysan Brittingham, (VA); one great great grandchild, Yazira Brittingham, two sisters, Elsie Thomas (VA), Sara Lee Bailey (MD), six sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Mildred was predeceased by her husband, Clarence Brickhouse, Jr.; children, Shirley Sturgis and Roland Sturgis, Jr.; three brothers, two sisters, four brothers-in-law, one sister-in-law and a daughter-in-law Patricia.
