Mary Sampson Obituary

Mary Lee Smith Sampson, the daughter of Rufus Smith and Dinah Hayes, was born October 6, 1954, in Starks, Florida. She attended Cape Charles Public School and Northampton County Public School. After graduation, she left her hometown and moved to Easton, MD until September 2021 when she decided to return home.

She worked as a hostess and housekeeper.

She became a member of FBC under the leadership of Pastor James Seaton and was baptized in 1973. Mary was a member of the Junior Choir.  She had a jovial spirit and was very joyful. She lived life to the fullest and loved reading, traveling, shopping and baseball. Her favorite football team was the Baltimore Ravens.

She was an energetic, fun loving kind of person. One of her biggest traits is that she always wore a smile on her face no matter what.

After returning home, she reunited herself with FBC under the leadership of Pastor K. F. Jones. She loved and respected Pastor Jones. Her faithfulness and dedication to FBC was remarkable. There was no shame in letting everyone know that she didn’t mind praising God, lifting her hands in praise. Mary supported the ministry and loved what she did. She was a member of the FBC Choir, and she certainly will be missed.

She was predeceased by her father, mother and husband, Rodney Sampson.

Mary leaves to cherish her memories: stepchildren: Annette Hopkins (Derrick); Sheila Sampson, and Crystal Sampson, all of Easton, MD,  6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, sister, Rose Davis of Cape Charles, VA, sister-in-law, Diana Sampson;  uncles, Vernon Hayes of Alachua, Florida and Joseph Hayes; aunt, Diana Ruckus of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, special friend, Arthur Kellam; best friend, Selene Savage and a host of other family and friends that she genuinely loved. Special thanks to Martha Lewis and Rettia Elder.
