Kenyona Neshay Bailey was born December 5, 1994 in Nassawadox, VA to
Bishop Norman Bailey, Jr. and the late Tonya R. Bailey. She passed away May 12,
2022. Kenyona attended Northampton and Accomack County Public Schools. She
was a talented public speaker and was a member of the Forensic teams at both
Northampton and Nandua High Schools where she advanced to regional and state
levels in impromptu speaking and original oratory. She graduated from Nandua
High School in 2014 and later attended Harpers Ferry Job Corps in West Virginia.
She was employed at 7-Eleven Convenience Store at the time of her death.
Kenyon attended Mt. Sinai Gospel Tabernacle, under the leadership of the late
Bishop Helen O. Gillis, where she was a member of the Busy Bee Choir. She also
attended Emmanuel Holy Temple, under the leadership of Pastor Diary Dixon,
where she sang on the choir and served as a junior usher. Kenyona was outspoken
and had a distinctive and very infectious laugh.
Kenyona was predeceased by: her mother, Tonya R. Bailey; her maternal
grandmother, Lorrine Waters; her sister, Samaria Bailey; her stepmother, Camisha
Bailey; her maternal great-grandparents, Lankford and Edna Phillips; her paternal
great-grandparents, Charles, Sr. and Ella Bailey and Elijah and Margie Dixon; and
her godbrother, Rodney Dixon.
She leaves to cherish fond memories: her father, Bishop Norman Bailey, Jr. and
stepmother, Renee Bailey; 4 brothers, Shamar Waters (Rachel), Norman III,
Kennis and Kenton Bailey; 4 stepsisters, Erika, Zakia and Caprice Bright and
E*Wayna Anderson; paternal grandparents, Norman, Sr, and Patricia Bailey;
maternal grandfather, Benny Waters; godparents, Starlene and Pastor Diary Dixon;
2 uncles, Jonathan Bailey (Deborah) and Matthew Bailey (Andrea); 3 aunts,
Gwendolen Morgan, Shante Waters and Parres S. Gardner-Woodhouse (Maurice);
3 nieces, Arianna and Brooklyn Waters and Trinity Bailey; 1 nephew, Tristan
Bailey; special aunt, Phyllis Gillis; 4 godsisters, Pastor Shernita Boyd, Marlette
and Marlene Dixon and Sherrell McBride; a host of great aunts and uncles, other
relatives, cousins and friends.
