Julia A Church-Smith Obituary

Julia A. Church-Smith went home to live with our Lord and Savior on Friday, March 8, 2014 at home with her beloved husband of 60+ years.

Julia was one of 9 children born on September 28, 1936 to the late Welton and Myrtle Church, Sr. in Franktown, VA where she grew up.

She was educated by the Northampton County School System.  Early in her marriage she and her husband moved to Philadelphia, PA where they lived for many years.  However, their love for Virginia brought them back home to Cheriton, VA where she resided until her passing.  Julia absolutely loved growing beautiful flowers and caring for her house plants.  She loved cooking, keeping her home in immaculate condition, watching classic TV and shopping on QVC.  She adored her little “Sweet Pea” who was always by her side.

She is predeceased by her parents Welton and Myrtle Church, Sr. and two brothers, Charles Alfred Church and Christopher Lee Church.

She leaves to cherish her most precious memory her husband, Charles Smith; son, Clarence Eugene Smith (Janet) special nephew/son, Dwight Smith (Shaunta); three brothers, William A. Church (Willine), Welton Church, Jr. (Carrie), and Willie Lee Church; three sisters, Lucy Ann Church, Martha Henderson (James) and Myrtle Sinclair (Michael) all residents of New Jersey; one brother in law, Otha A. Smith, Sr.; three sisters in law, Frances Hutchinson, Bernice Smith, Sarah Smith; 4 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Expressions from the family, to our sister, whom we love and will miss so much.

You are gone now, we know you have so many things to see and do.  We must try not to tie ourselves to you with tears but with much love and memories.  We thank God for all the years that He gave us together.  He knows how much we love you, but He loved you more.  We thank you for the love and happiness that you have shared with us but now it’s time that you travel on alone.  We know it’s only for a while that we must part.  We know that you are not far away so when we need you we’ll just call though you can’t see or touch us we will be near.  We all will come your way soon.  When we do, greet us with a smile and with open arms and welcome us into heaven.  We can’t wait to see your smiling face again.  We love you big Sis and hope to see you soon.
