As we slowly watched you fade away, it was only Jesus, who in his infinite wisdom and peace came for you that glorious Monday morning.

Jinnilla Baker Fitchett was born on June 25, 1932 in Northampton County, Virginia to the late Allen and Lucy Baker.  She departed this life on Monday, September 5, 2016 at Heritage Hall Nursing Home, Nassawadox, Virginia.

At an early age, Jinnilla proclaimed Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and joined African Baptist Church under the pastoral leadership of Rev. Burke.  She loved the Lord greatly and served Him faithfully.

She was educated in the Northampton Public School System.  After graduating High School, she was employed at Webster's Factory.   She later moved to Philadelphia and became employed at Bryn Mawr College where she worked for many years.

In 1967, Jinnilla was joined in holy matrimony to the love of her life, the late Powell Fitchett.  They spent many happy years together until his departure from this life on Saturday, March 7, 1987.

Although there were no children from this union, there were a host of nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.   She would always find time to cook and make homemade baked goods for her nieces and nephews.  During her final days, two of her nieces, Bernadette Harmon and Pamela Baker, looked after her to ensure that she received the best possible care.

She leaves to mourn her passing:

Four sisters, Yvonne Miller (Toney), Philadelphia, PA; Barbara Hebbons (Harvina), Philadelphia, PA, Joan Baker, West Virginia;  and one Sister who proceeded her in death,  Dora Green; one Sister-in Law; Gwendolyn Baker, Virginia Beach, VA and three brothers who all also proceeded her in death, Allen Baker, Charles Baker, and James Baker; and a host of nieces and nephews.
