Jessie Marie (Wyatt) Ball Obituary

Jessie Marie (Wyatt) Ball Obituary

Jessie "Red" Marie Wyatt Ball was born on February 6, 1928 to the late Thomas Hunter and Ruth Whitley in Johnson County, North Carolina.

Jessie was reared in North Carolina, where she also attended public school. She later moved to the Eastern Shore of Virginia, where she resided.

She worked as a farm hand most of her life. It was definitely something she liked to do. She had a real talent for gardening, often allowing her skills she picked up for work to influence her lawncare at home. She definitely didn't play when it came to someone touching her plants (let's be honest we all were warned not touch her flowers as kids).

Jessie was an adamant church goer, As long as her health permitted her to attend, she was there. She was an amazing Sunday School Teacher amongst other positions she held in the church. Her true passion was her family. She was protective of all of her loved ones, especially the children. She was popular with kids for the sodas, candy and sweet treats that she was known for having. She was considered "One of the Mothers of Culls" and in every sense was the mother and grandmother to all the neighborhood children. She was definitely not shy about speaking her mind if she felt you were of line, and all the parents in the neighborhood appreciated her for it. You knew if your children were in her presence they would be well behaved and taken care of.

On October 14, 2017, the Lord called his heavenly angel home, Our beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. Preceding her in death were her parents, Ruth Whitley and Thomas Hunter.
