James Edward Trower was born in Northampton County to the late Robert M. Trower Sr., and Catherine Allen Trower. He joined Bethel A.M.E Church in Eastville, VA, at a young age.

He graduated from Northampton School System in 1973. James then attended Eastern Shore Community College. He worked at Northampton High School as a teacher’s aide and a coach. He has worked various jobs as a truck driver. In the 1990's and 2000's he lived in Philadelphia, PA and returned to Virginia later, where he worked at Shore Memorial Hospital for many years. James later retired from Eastern Shore Regional Jail.

James is predeceased by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Trower, in which they shared many beautiful years together. He is also preceded in death by his grandson Lonnie W. Smith Jr., brother, Robert M. Trower Jr.

He is left cherish his memories, 1 son, Devin N. Burton; 1 daughter, Angela L. Smith (Eric); 1 granddaughter, Quintara Smith; 2 great-granddaughters, Trinity M. Kellam and Journie B. Smith-Bunting; brother, Kenneth Trower (Reverend Helen Trower); 1 niece, Dr. Constance Pruitt (Cobie); great niece, Isabella Pruitt; special sister-cousin, Lana Faye Taylor; special niece, Kimberly J. Trower; 4 sister-in-laws, Diane Picott Williams, Mary Hines (Michael), Judy Dixon (Michael), and Brenda Wynder Trower; brother-in-law, Henry Picott; a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, family and friends.

You all had a special place in his heart.
