James Brisco Sr. Obituary
On Sunday, September 7, 2025, JAMES SEVERN BRISCO SR., boarded his train peacefully at his home in Exmore Va., to be with the Lord.
He was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Helen Olivia Brisco; 1 daughter, Sabrina Monae; 1 son, Levin Brisco; 1 great grandson, D'Quan; loving parents, John and Lillie Brisco; 3 sisters, Annis Mae George, Daisy Branch and Judy Brisco; and 6 brothers, Charles, Garland, Henry, Thomas, Irvin and William.
James was born on October 30, 1935 in Eastville, Va. and waseducated in the Northampton School System. A hard working man, James retired from the Coca Cola Plant, and later was employed at Perdue's Sanitation Dept. His knowledge on repairing cars, trucks, and anything that had a motor led him to Roland Bailey's/Butch Bailey's Automotive establishment until his health failed.
James was well known for wearing the famous Kango Hat, but ask him what time it was, and rest assured He had a Watch on his wrist! TURK, DADDY, POP, POP-POP, POPS, had a love for playing Dominos, playing Cards-Tune and Deuces and was real good at the games. You could often find James out fishing, but at lunch time he made it home to watch his favorite Soap Opera every day.
He leaves to cherish his memories: 13 children: James Jr. (Lee), Killeen Tx., Orlando, Exmore, Va., Wayne (Michelle), Oak Hall, Va., Darren (Tytiana), Williamsburg, Va., Terrence (Melissa), Nassawadox, Va., Yarn (Shakeva), Cheriton Va., Linda Brisco, Exmore Va., Janet Picott (Eugene), Cheriton Va., Mary Weeks (Donald), Cheriton Va., Hope Young (Anthony), Exmore, Va.,Stacey Finney, Norfolk, Va., Jacqueline West, Nassawadox Va., and Felicia Williams, Columbus Ga; 42 grandchildren, 77 great-grands, 23 great-great grands; 1 brother, John, Norfolk, Va.; 2 sisters-in-law, Juanita Maddox, Parsley, Va. and Sharlene Brisco, Norfolk, Va.; special caretaker-Miguel Gonzalez, Exmore Va.; special friend and neighbor, Annie Mae Moore, Exmore Va.; fi-an-c-a, Mary Jones, District Heights Md.; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
