George S. Jarrett, 82, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2025, in Newport News, Virginia. Born on October 15, 1942, in Newport News, George was the beloved son of the late Florence and James Jarrett Sr. He was a proud graduate of Huntington High School and dedicated many years of service to the Newport News Shipyard, where he held various positions and ultimately served as a Foreman.

Above all, George cherished his role as a father and grandfather. A devoted family man, he found his greatest joy in spending time with loved ones. He enjoyed singing and listening to classic oldies, relaxing on the porch, and riding his bike through the neighborhood.

George is survived by his loving daughters: Tawanda Drone (Herman) of Hampton, VA; Alethia Daniels (Andre) of Raleigh, NC; LaMondie Jarrett of Hampton, VA; and Betty Williams (Darin) of Newport News, VA. He also leaves behind two devoted sisters, Betty Jarrett-Watkins of the Bronx, NY, and Romonia Jarrett Harris Bullock of Hampton, VA; one brother, Robert Lee Jarrett Sr. of Newport News, VA; along with a host of cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Florence and James Jarrett Sr.; brothers, James Jarrett Jr. and Willis Jarrett; and sisters, Florence Jarrett Harris and Janett Jarrett-Dorsey.

George will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His unwavering love for family, generous spirit, and dependable nature were the foundation of his life. Whether lending a helping hand or offering heartfelt support, George was someone you could always count on.
