Garnell Jones

Garnell “Dappa” Dap Jones — a devoted father, loving grandfather, cherished brother, uncle, and friend whose presence touched countless lives throughout the Shore.

Dap was the beloved son of the late Sabra Tolliver and the late Milton Jones. He came from a family whose roots were deeply planted in faith, love, and gospel music. The Jones family legacy of singing and spreading joy
throughout the community became a beacon of hope to many. Affectionately known as “All My Children,” and "All MY Grandchildren" the family shared their gift of song across generations, bringing comfort, praise, and unity wherever they went. Dap had a sweet singing voice like Smokey Robinson.

Above all else, Dap loved his family. He was a proud and dedicated father to Lakesha Stines, Garnell Stines, Randy Roman, Hector Roman and Darnell Washington. His children were the center of his universe, and he lovingly referred to them as his “babies.” Whether through laughter, guidance, music, or simply being present, He loved God and poured his heart into those he loved most.

Dap will be remembered for his warm spirit, his devotion to family, his love for gospel music, and the strength and kindness he carried throughout his life. His legacy lives on not only in song, but in the lives of the children, grandchildren, family members, and friends he leaves behind.

Dap was proceeded in death by: Milton Jones, Sr., Sabor G. Tolliver; brothers, Milton Jones, Jr., Clarence Jones, Sr.; sisters, Francis Jones, Jannie P. Smith, Jacob Smith, Nyoka Ames, and Pearly Ames; brother-in-law, Joseph Savage; niece, Angel Jones; great-nephew, and Nicholas K. Joseph.

Dap leaves to cherish his memory: grandchildren, Donniequa Handy, Torion Stines, Tamonte Finney, Dorion Stratton, Raquan Stines, Darius Stratton, Daevon Stines, Ja'Ceri Miller, Ky'Mya Stratton and Garnell Jr.; great grandchildren, Lanaayah Johnson, Nevaeh Stines, Aviance Stines, Torion, Jr., Bella'Rose Handy, Amora Stratton, Prince'Brian Handy, Serenity Stratton, Malia Stratton, Tamonte, Jr., Key'Oir Stines, Amazing'Grarce Handy, Carol Roman, Jasmine Roman, and Zachary Roman; sisters and brothers, Selene Savage, Patricia Ames, Sampson Jones (Paula Jones), Marvin Jones (Phyllis Jones) and sisters-in-law, Persis Jones and   Marjorie Jones.
