Deacon Earl Carlise Jr,. Obituary

Earl Weldon Carlisle, Jr. 75, of Cape Charles, Virginia, passed on October 13, 2021. Earl affectionately known as, Toe Joe, Cocheese, Uncle Shug was born on November 17, 1945 to the late Earl and Catherine Carlisle. 

Earl was one of five children: Edmond, Ruth, Mary, James which all preceded him in death. 

Earl lived in Philadelphia and worked at Frank's soda company as a truck driver for a number of years before moving to Cape Charles, Virginia. 

Earl moved to Virginia and settled in Cape Charles. He quickly joined the First Baptist Church where he felt at home. He did tremendous work at First Baptist and became an ordained Deacon. Earl also enjoyed tending and taking care of the church. He met and married the late Addie I. Carlisle at First Baptist Church and was joined in holy matrimony on October 1, 1983. Their union lasted for 33 years. 

Earl enjoyed serving the Lord, preaching the word of the Lord to everyone he encountered, helping others, and loving his family. He especially loved driving to Philadelphia, New Jersey, and New York to see his children, grandchildren, and extended family. 

Earl loved to eat. He would not turn anything away. He enjoyed watching old-time shows such as, Sanford and Son, Good Times, Jefferson's and one his favorite movies of all time was, "Ben Hur" played by Charlton Heston. Earl could always be found sitting with his bible and reading until he would fall asleep. 

Earl was a loyal servant of God. He was very spiritual, kind, funny, and always spoke so highly of everyone. 

Earl will join his loving wife, Addie Carlisle, brothers, Edmond and James, sisters, Ruth and Mary in heaven. 

He is survived by his three children, Stacey Davis, Earl Carlisle III (Mary), and Kelly Carlisle-Hunter (Fred); six grandchildren, Anaadia, Justin, Brandon, Rachel, Kristina, and Blake; two great-grandchildren, Omira and JJ; nieces, Ruth (ReeRee), Michelle (Shelly), and Little Mary; nephews, Kenneth (Kenny), James (Jim-Jim), and Paul; a host of exceptional grand nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
