David Lee Young, Sr., also known as Dave Young, age 85, passed away peacefully at home on May 13, 2025, in Parksley, Virginia. Born on April 7, 1940, in Onley, Virginia, he lived a full and vibrant life marked by hard work, deep passions, and unwavering dedication to those around him.

David was the son of Mattie and Theodore Young and was raised alongside his brother Elwood and sister Mayfield. He pursued his early education at T.C. Walker in Accomack, Virginia, and graduated from Mary N. Smith High School in 1960. Always eager to expand his skills, David later attended trade school in Indiana, where he laid the foundation for a lifelong career defined by versatility and craftsmanship.

Throughout his professional life, David wore many hats with pride and excellence. He served as a Security Captain at Perdue Farms and worked as a butcher in both Baltimore and Indiana. A certified electrician as well, Dave was truly a jack of all trades—capable of building just about anything with his hands and ingenuity.

David's personal life was equally rich. He shared many cherished years (48) with his beloved wife, Deloris Young. He leaves to mourn five children: daughters Tabatha, Tiffany, and Sharmaine; and sons David Jr. and Keith, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, 5 brother in laws; Clarence Veney, William Veney(Eva), Kenneth Veney(Heidi), Danny Veney, Tony Veney (Tamekia), 5 sister in laws; Jacqueline Veney (Kenneth), Deborah Veney, Machelle Veney, Katrina Veney, & Sabrina Sturdavant, cousins and a host of other family and friends.  His family was the heart of his world, and he found great joy in spending time with them.

Known for his outgoing spirit and fearless nature, David had a heart of gold that touched everyone who knew him. He had an infectious energy that made him the life of any gathering—especially when playing Spades or sharing stories over a backyard barbecue.

His hobbies reflected his zest for life: fishing along the Eastern Shore waters, hunting in the woods he knew so well, collecting sports cards and antiques with an eye for hidden treasures, tending to his garden with care, bowling with friends old and new, or scouring yard sales for unique finds. Each pastime spoke to his curiosity and love for simple pleasures.

David's legacy is one of resilience, generosity, humor, and boundless energy. He leaves behind not only a loving family but also countless memories that will be treasured by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He was preceded in death by his parents Mattie Joynes and Theodore Young, and his brother Elwood Young.
