Damonte’ Lamarr Futrell, Sr. departed this Earthly life on April 28, 2024. He was born on October 17, 1989 to Tonya Futrell and Murphy Conyers. He was a resident of Norfolk, Virginia. Nothing meant more to Damonte’ than his children. From the day they were born, he dedicated his life to them. He was an outstanding father. Damonte’, also affectionately known as “Monte” and “Tae” was educated in the Chesapeake Public School system. He attended Hugo Owens Middle School and Deep Creek High School, where he was known as the “laid back, cool guy”. He had a great sense of fashion. Monte maintained lifelong friendships with his childhood friends over the years. Professionally, Monte was an Electrician who took great pride in his work accomplishments. He was a graduate of the Associated Builders and Contractors Apprentice Program’s 4 year apprenticeship school in 2023. He was employed with J.C. Driskill, Inc. for 5 years. When asked to describe Tae, adjectives such as team player, reliable, outgoing, friendly, and determined were used. Damonte’ is already greatly missed by his J.C. Driskill, Inc. family. Damonte’ leaves to cherish his memory, his children: Lucinda, Damonte’, Jr., and Marcel; his parents, Sidney and Tonya Fitzgerald (Virginia Beach, VA); his sister, Keonda Futrell (Jackson, TN), his brother, Soloman Fitzgerald (Manhattan, NY); his grandparents; Bobbie and Betty Boyd (Chesapeake, VA), Jerry and Monica Cox (Hampton, VA); a special friend, Kenneth Kearney (Jackson, TN), his godmother, Sherry Scott (Virginia Beach, VA), a special cousin who was like a sister to him, Aleseus Moses (Chesapeake, VA), and a multitude of other relatives and friends who loved him dearly. Let us all find comfort in knowing we will see him again.
