Claudine Satchell Obituary

Claudine B. Satchell was born on January 18, 1918 in Lynchburg, VA to the late W. Alexander and Claudia Giles. She was preceded in death by husbands Eli Burke and John Satchell, and 12 siblings.

Claudine absolutely loved to be around family and friends, but was especially fond of children. She had a very giving heart and nurtured many children over the years. It was her love of family that led her to organize the first Giles Family Reunion in the early 1970s.

Claudine served as the minister at the House of Prayer in Cheriton, VA for numerous years. She was a child of God and her faith remained strong until her passing. The written word was very important to her. On days when Claudine was relaxing you could find her sitting and reading her bible, which she loved to do often.

Claudine was a beloved mother, grandmother, godmother, aunt and friend. She leaves to cherish her most precious memories, foster son James Cox (Geraldine) of Parksley, VA and beloved nephew Alfonso Porter (Hattie) of Lynchburg, VA. She is also  survived by three grandsons, five great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, god-children, family and life-long friends.
