Christy Clarence Cornish, born January 10, 1959 in Salisbury, Maryland, departed this life peacefully in his childhood home in Cheriton, Virgina. Christy was the youngest of five children born to the late Jerome and Julia Cornish of Cheriton, Virginia. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. 

Christy received his education in the Northampton County school system before attending Norfolk State College. His career spanned various jobs including construction and licensed commercial truck driving. Christy said his favorite job was with the Hilton Corporation in New Jersey as a purchasing director,where he especially enjoyed the responsibility of sampling the food and alcohol products before delivery to the hotel. In 2006 he began his career in maintenance in Princess Anne, Maryland at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. In 2024 he retired from there after 18 years of dedicated service. There was no task too small or too large for Christy to complete with the utmost skilled care.

Christy was a devoted father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He is predeceased by his parents, Jerome and Julia Cornish, and two brothers, Jerome (Sonny) Cornish and Matthew Cornish, Sr.

Christy’s memory will live on through his loving daughter, Julia Cornish of Princess Anne, MD; two sisters, Darlene Burton of Cape Charles, VA, and Juliana Johnson (Douglas) of Chicago, IL; numerous nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews; and cousins, other family members, and dear friends. 

To really know Christy was to love him. He lived life unfettered, full speed ahead, and heart wide open. His passion was the Eastern Shore of Virginia, where his greatest joys were spending time with childhood friends, days fishing on the Chesapeake Bay, and talks with his nephews and grand nephews. Christy felt his greatest accomplishment in life was his daughter, Julia. 

He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
