Charles Venson Upshur Obituary

Charles Venson Upshur quietly entered his eternal rest at the Nassawadox Rehabilitation and Nursing Home in Nassawadox,Va
on June 21st 2024. Our beloved Charles graced this world on June 26th, 1943 born to the late Hildred and Louise Upshur in
Weirwood, Virgina. He was educated at Northampton County Public Schools. As a young man, Charles left Virgina with his aunt
in Philadelphia and it was there that he accepted Christ.
Charles found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life, and his greatest attribute was the love he had for his family and
friends. The word "no" was never in his vocabulary; he was always there when you called. He sought to help in any way
possible, never complaining, and no job was too small or too big for him to handle. Generous with his time, Charles would
assist family and friends with moves, whether just around the corner or across the country.
Charles had a deep love for nature and spent countless hours exploring the great outdoors through long walks and bike rides.
He participated in many New York Bike Marathons and enjoyed countless hours near the water and on the beach. His travels
took him all across the United States and abroad to Europe, where he found great peace in the beauty of nature and often
marveled at the wonders of the world around him.
A passionate collector of Hess trucks, Charles took pride in creatively incorporating them into his Christmas villages, complete
with Hess signs, gas stations, and airport hangars. He also took great care in his appearance and was known as a dapper dresser.
Charles never met a stranger and made friends everywhere he went.
He was a man who labored with his hands, finding great pride and pleasure in all his work. For many years, he worked as a
presser for Leo’s Cleaner in Roslyn, New York. Later in life, before retiring, he worked with the maintenance and landscaping
department at the Extended Stay Suites in Norcross, Georgia.
As we bid farewell to our beloved father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, we take comfort in knowing that he is at peace,
surrounded by the love of his heavenly Father. Charles' life may have come to an end, but the footprints of his legacy will endure
for generations to come. His life was a testament to all who came in touch with him.  Charles, fondly known as “Pop Pop” or
“Pop” is survived by a loving family and a host of friends who will forever cherish his memory. He leaves behind to cherish his
