Cathernie A. Fisher adorned her robe on Wednesday, January 17 ,2024 and
took her long deserved place with the angelic host in the heavenly choir to
lift her melodious voice and sing, “Calvary, Surley He Died On Calvary”.
Catherine brought parental bliss on December 21, 1930 to her parents
Julia and Bennie Kates, who loved and nurtured her in the fear and
admonish on of the Lord.
Catherine attended school in Northampton County.
Catherine was employed by the then, Northampton-Tacoma Memorial
Hospital, as a laundry supervisor. Catherine kept her uniform as prestine
and perfect as she kept the laundry.
Mom Catherine, as she was so affectionately called by the
neighborhood children, was one of the kindest and sweetest hearts you
would ever meet. She always had the prettiest shinest car, but never too
nice to see that on Sunday Mornings her other children, (Ann’s) kids, got to
Sunday School whom to this day will declare that much of who they are and
the love they have for God and church are credited to the rides they received
on sundays from Mom Fisher.
Catherine wore many hats during her life’'s tenure at Bethel: choir
member, usher, treasurer and missionary. She was faithful and dedicated
to everything that God put her hands and heart to do. Catherine was loved
by all who knew her warm and quite demeanor. The last few years of her
life were spent at Heritage Hall Nursing Home-Nassawadox Rehabilitation
and Nursing Facility, and even there, the staff fell in love with her angelic
spirit.
Catherine had an undeniable and unequivocal love for her husband of 75
years, Lankford, who predeceased her, her 3 children of whom she beamed
with joy everytime she spoke of them and her grandchildren who were the
apple of her eye.
Mrs. Fisher's warm loving demeanor will be forever cherished by her
loving and supportive children: Geraldine Fisher, Arlington VA, William
Fisher (Sandra), Alpharetta GA, Paulette Wells (TJ), Greensboro NC, her 7
grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters-in-law: Adell Fisher and
Corrine Fisher. She had other aunts and uncles to predecease her as well.
