Sister Alma "Betty" Sharpe Smith was born on April 18, 1929 from the union of the late Malcolm and Willie Mae Nesmith Sharpe Spady in Hahaira, Georgia. In her early years she joined the County Line AME Church, Cecil, Georgia.
She was a member of African Baptist Church for over 50 years.
She was united in holy matrimony to the late Rendzo Smith. Sister Smith had 5 children. She was survived by 2 children Clara Smith and Jerry Smith of Cape Charles, Virginia, and preceded by 3 the late James Ora Sharpe, Julia Smith Holland and Willie Mae Smith.
Betty was also preceded by both of her siblings, Sargent James Sharpe and Mrs. Julie Bartee. She leaves to cherish 7 grandchildren: Raymond Smith, James Patton, Missy Patton, Rakeem Patton, Tonya Patton, Andrew Smith, and the late Roosevelt "Redman" Smith; 11 great grandchildren; 1 surving aunt, Ilene Manning; 2 great nephews, Chris Poompey and James Scott; longtime friend, Barbara Edwards; and a host of relatives and friends.
