Adrienne Vanessa Sample

Adrienne Vanessa Sample, 56, died peacefully in her home in Chesapeake, Virginia on August 28th, 2017. She was born in Machipongo, VA on March 30th, 1961 to Alvin Stoakley and the late Vienna Sample. 

Adrienne was preceded in death by her mother and brother, Ronald Sample, both of the Eastern Shore of Virginia. 

Adrienne, who most knew as "Vanessa," was a brilliant, strong, beloved, selfless and caring woman. She was a born and raised in Northampton County, Virginia, where she attended Northampton High School. Upon finishing high school, "Vanessa" furthered her education when she became a student at Eastern Shore Community College. It was there that she studied business management. She later moved to Newport News, Virginia and worked in the aquaculture business. Although she enjoyed working in aquaculture, her passion and love for all children drew her back to the Eastern Shore of Virginia. She became a daycare provider for over 20 years. She also worked for Perdue Farms for nine years, until health began to fail. "Vanessa" resided in Chesapeake, VA during her illness. "Vanessa" loved to read, tell a good story, create recipes, cook and most of all she loved her children immensely. Including the love she had for the neighborhood kids, from whom she received the token name "Aunt Vanessa."

She is survived by her siblings: Sharon Sample, Stevon Sample, Lovell Church, Karen Taylor, Kenneth Stoakley(Pamela), Venjanette Mack, Kevin Lyons, Marquis Land, and Carla Kellam; three aunts, Gladys Andrews, Deloris Johnson, Fannie Smart; one uncle, Henry Stoakley(Annie); three daughters, Shawan Samantha Sample, Stacey Latoya Sample, Aviance Lashell Sample; one niece, Syossea Dargan(Earnest); four grandchildren, Anesti Tankard-Sample, Zaria Sample, London Brown, Jr., and Prince Brown. "Vanessa" had two special nieces and a nephew that were near and dear to her heart, Aakia Bright, Kanesha Pyron, and Marvin Wynder; two close friends, Linda Smith and Cynthia Cypress; and a host of loving in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and long time friends.
